Zada Swoopes Champion Women's Shot Put and Discus Throw, 6th Place Hammer Throw - NCAA D2 Outdoor Championships 2021

Zada Swoopes, a junior at West Texas A&M, won the women's shot put and discus titles, along with finishing sixth in the hammer throw to earn All-America honors in all three events at the NCAA Division 2 Outdoor Championships at Grand Valley State's Track and Field Stadium in Allendale, Mich. Swoopes set the championship meet record on her final attempt in the shot put with a mark of 57-8.50 (17.59m), giving her two of the top four efforts in division history. She also prevailed in the discus with a fifth-round throw of 175-6 (53.49m) to become the first female athlete since 2013 to sweep both championships in the same year. Swoopes produced a personal-best 186-5 (56.83m) in the hammer throw to finish with 23 total points for West Texas A&M, which finished third overall with 49 points. More videos |
