Cheyenne Williamson, a sophomore at Saginaw Valley State, won the women's heptathlon title with a personal-best 5,595 points and anchored the 4x400-meter relay to victory in 3:39.46 with a 53.26-second split at the NCAA Division 2 Outdoor Championships at Grand Valley State's Track and Field Stadium in Allendale, Mich. Williamson competed 12 times in the three-day meet, including prelims and finals of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. She took third in the long jump with a wind-aided effort of 20-5.75 (6.24m) and anchored the Cardinals to an eighth-place finish in the 4x100 relay in 45.93. Williamson followed teammate Lauren Huebner, the 2019 champion, by winning the heptathlon and joined decathlon winner Sam Black in helping Saginaw Valley State become the first school to sweep both multi-event championships in the same year since Central Missouri achieved the feat in 2011. Williamson contributed 18.75 points for the Cardinals, who placed fifth overall with 39 points. More videos |
